Rough, fine and final cleaning — what is the difference?
Construction cleaning happens in three phases. Rough cleaning is done during the build to keep the site clean and safe. Fine cleaning is done after all trades are finished but before final inspection. Final cleaning happens after inspection, immediately before move-in or handover.
Delivering an apartment or villa ready for living usually requires all three. For commercial projects fine and final cleaning is sometimes enough.
Rough cleaning — keeps the site safe
- Removal of packaging and debris
- Sweeping and dust binding of floors
- Source sorting of construction waste
- Handling of hazardous waste per regulations
Fine cleaning — the whole surface should look finished
Fine cleaning is where most complaints arise. Our deep cleaning in Gothenburg can do both fine and final cleaning in the same week. The guarantee terms are set out in the quote, without a promise that the inspection will pass.
- Removal of protective paper, glue residue and paint
- Wiping of mouldings, doors and skirting
- Polishing of glass, mirrors and tiles
- Vacuuming and wet wiping of all floors
- Cleaning of sockets, ventilation and fixtures
- Wiping of appliances inside and out
Final clean — how the project is handed over
- All dust from the inspection wiped
- Protective tape and plastic removed
- Toilets, faucets and appliances polished
- Floors wiped one final time
- Wardrobes and storage wiped inside and out
- Window cleaning inside and out where safe
What the inspector checks off
The inspector looks for dust in corners, glue residue on glass, paint splatter on floors and traces of building on mouldings. Other common complaints are dirty ventilation vents, incomplete cleaning of appliances and unrinsed tile grout.
If you receive complaints they must be fixed within eight days. With Sweepit you call us within 48 hours and we correct it at no extra cost if we did the cleaning.
